We are a growing landscape architecture firm looking for a Landscape Architect / Project Manager to join our team.
Steele Landscape Architecture is based in Fairport, New York. Our firm is a woman-led partnership between Sue and Zakery Steele. We share a love for the landscape and value the effort involved in moving ideas into built works. Our approach is hands-on and service oriented. We pursue creative and logical problem solving, build client relationships, and TCB. We spend time in the field and thoughtfully reflect on the core goals of the client as a pathway to quality work. What You’ll Do
Manage and advance landscape architecture projects from start to finish.
Work directly with clients and build relationships.
Collaborate within our studio and with other partners.
·Use, and improve, your knowledge of horticulture, soil, drainage, and maintenance, etc.
Have a role in construction administration and site inspections and help find solutions to problems.
What We're Looking For
Experience as a Project Manager and Landscape Architect.
A practical foundation in horticulture, soil, drainage, and landscape maintenance.
Strong verbal and graphic communication skills (we find value in hand-drawing).
Ability to work well with clients.
A collaborative approach to projects.
Someone who is curious, enjoys solving problems, and is willing to learn.
Qualifications
BLA or MLA degree from an accredited institution.
Holds a current professional Landscape Architecture license in New York state or another state with reciprocity.
Minimum 8 years’ professional experience in an office setting.
Technical Proficiency:
Demonstrated experience in site grading, layout, materials detailing, and general construction documentation.
Experience in construction administration and inspection of landscape-oriented projects.
AutoCAD, standard office software, and 3D modelling software.
Project Management Skills:
Proven ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to move a project through all phases, from initial design to production work and completion.
An attentive approach to project management, actively participating in design and production work.
Staying calm when things do not go exactly as planned and finding a path forward.
Communication and Client Relations:
Excellent client-service mindset, with a focus on building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and subconsultants.
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to explain design concepts to clients poetically and efficiently.
